Former NBA Veteran Has Passed Away

Despite getting bounced in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers are in a much better position than they were a decade ago when they were outright missing the postseason.

Those Lakers teams still had Kobe Bryant on them, but he was a shell of himself after suffering multiple devastating injuries including an Achilles tear.

Without a healthy Bryant, Los Angeles was forced to rely on a host of young and inexperienced players to get them through the year.

One of the forgotten names on those rosters is Darius Morris, whom the team drafted 41st overall in the 2011 NBA Draft.

A point guard with speed and some shake to him, Morris showed flashes during his tenure with the purple and gold before moving on to play for other teams around the league.

Tragically, though, it seems that the former Laker has passed away, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

“Four-year NBA veteran Darius Morris has passed away at the age of 33. Morris played for the Lakers, 76ers, Clippers, Grizzlies and Nets from 2011-2015,” Charania reported.

It’s unclear what the cause of death is, but regardless this is incredibly sad news considering he was only 33 years old.

Morris may not have had a long career in the league, but there are players that will surely be hurting because of this news.

Morris’ death is a reminder that there are things much bigger than basketball and should give people more reason to be kind and courteous to others given how fragile life can be.
