After parting ways with head coach Darvin Ham following getting beat by the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers have officially begun their coaching search, with plenty of candidates emerging for the 17-time champions.

Although there’s been a lot of buzz about J.J. Redick and Tyronn Lue lately, many notable names are connected to the coaching search in Los Angeles, including Kenny Atkinson, David Adelman, James Borrego, and now Micah Nori.

With Chris Finch on the mend due to an injury he sustained while on the sideline during the playoffs, Nori has become the face of the coaching staff during the team’s second-round playoff series against the Nuggets.

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the Lakers will interview the current Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach via Evan Sidery of Forbes.

At this point in time, there doesn’t appear to be a clear favorite for the coaching job in Los Angeles, as it seems as though the storied franchise is doing it’s due diligence in trying to find the right person to lead this team moving forward.

One major component of this coaching search is LeBron James and Anthony Davis’s preference for the new leader on the sideline. The team wants to make their superstars happy ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

The Lakers are especially concerned about making the right call when it comes to James, who can and likely will opt out of his contract with the team next month and either test free agency or re-sign with the team.
