Luka Doncic may not have won the NBA championship, but he still made league history in the playoffs.

He’s drawing plenty of criticism for the way the Dallas Mavericks’ season came to an end, but it’s not like he didn’t try.

As pointed out by StatMuse on Twitter, the Slovenian star led the entire playoffs in total points, rebounds, assists, steals, three-pointers, and field goals made.

Needless to say, he would swap that for the Larry O’Brien trophy any day of the week, but that also speaks volumes about his impact and ability to stuff the stat sheet.

Granted, Doncic deserves some fair criticism for being out of shape and his lack of defensive effort in the NBA Finals.

But he was the main reason why the Mavericks were able to get to that stage in the first place.

This was the first time in his career that he had a legitimate supporting cast, and he led the team to the final stage of the season.

He has to lick his wounds and learn from this painful experience.

He looked quite banged up and hurt at the end of the season, so perhaps it would be wiser for him to sit out the Olympics and get ready for the upcoming campaign.

If he gets in better shape and keeps his temper under control, this definitely won’t be the last time he makes it to the NBA Finals, and he should have at least one ring in his future.
