Mavericks Are Leading A Surprising Stat In NBA Finals

The Dallas Mavericks forced Game 5 with one of the most dominant performances in recent NBA Finals history.

Jason Kidd’s team came out blazing from the jump, and while it seemed like the Boston Celtics may have overlooked them and were way too confident ahead of the game, the Mavericks also deserve plenty of praise for what they did.

With that performance, the Mavericks are now on top in a somewhat bizarre stat for a team that’s down 3-1.

As shown by Courtside Buzz, the Mavericks have officially scored more points than the Celtics through the first four games of the NBA Finals, outscoring them 408 to 402.

Despite being down 3-1 in the 2024 NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks have outscored the Boston Celtics in the 4 games combined 😳

Unfortunately for them, there’s no consolation prize, and it’s literally the same to win by 1 than by 100.

The Mavericks had a legitimate chance to even things up and win Game 2 on the road before some late-game execution cost them the game.

Then, Luka Doncic’s ejection in Game 3 sealed the deal in favor of Joe Mazzulla’s team.

Truth be told, the Celtics hadn’t dominated the Mavericks in such a way, so the 3-0 lead in the series didn’t tell the whole picture.

Then again, all that matters is the final score, and the Celtics were much better down the stretch and in terms of closing out quarters and games.

The Mavericks will now look to live for another day and force the series to return to Dallas.

It won’t be an easy thing to do in a hostile environment, but they clearly have the scoring prowess and talent to do so.
