Going into last season, few people expected much out of the Green Bay Packers after they traded away future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who had been the face of their franchise for 15 years.

The trade handed the keys of the franchise over to Jordan Love, who had been drafted in 2020 and talked about as Rodgers’ heir apparent, but had done nothing to prove he was deserving of being Rodgers’ successor.

But after some early struggles, Love played very well in November, December and January, and he took Green Bay to the divisional round of the playoffs, where they blew a third-quarter lead and lost to the San Francisco 49ers.

Now, Love is seen as an elite QB in the making, and Louis Reddick said on ESPN’s “NFL Live” that the Packers need to give Love an extension now.

Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence recently got extensions that will pay them $55 million a year, and one could expect the market for good and great QBs to continue to go up in the coming months.

Love is heading into the final year of his contract, and if the Packers wait to get a deal done, they could end up having to pay him more money than they would if they get a deal done this offseason.

They have a very promising quartet of young wide receivers, and some feel they can challenge the Detroit Lions for first place in the NFC North and perhaps even have a shot at reaching the Super Bowl this coming season.
