The Minnesota Vikings could be a dark-horse team in the NFC this coming season.

They have an intriguing rookie quarterback in J.J. McCarthy, a very productive tight end in T.J. Hockenson, and two stud wide receivers in Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.

When healthy, Jefferson is arguably the best wideout in the NFL, and as he heads into the final year of his contract, the Vikings are looking to get him signed to an extension.

ESPN NFL commentator Dan Graziano said fans need to be patient when it comes to looking for Jefferson and Minnesota to agree on an extension — he said talks could drag deep into the summer.

A hamstring injury limited Jefferson to 10 games last season, but he still put up 1,074 yards and five touchdowns while ranking second in receiving yards per game.

His ability to make contested catches, especially from long distances, strikes fear in the hearts of many opposing teams and their fans.

Assuming Jefferson gets his extension soon enough, the Vikings could be on their way back to being competitive.

Their defense could be a question mark after star edge rusher Danielle Hunter left this offseason, but their offense has the ability to be explosive if McCarthy proves he can lead a team’s passing attack.

At the University of Michigan, he played in a run-heavy offense under Jim Harbaugh, and critics say that as a result, he may not have what it takes to be a true franchise QB in an NFL that has become increasingly pass-friendly over the years.

But he will definitely have heavy-duty weapons at his disposal, starting with Jefferson.
