The Miami Dolphins have one of the NFL’s best, if not the best, offensive attacks, and while they still need improvement on the defensive side of the football, they’re now a legitimate playoff team.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa leads that potent offensive attack, and while he has his share of critics and haters, he did put up great numbers last season while making the Pro Bowl for the first time.

He’s going into the final season of his current contract, which means he’s due for an extension, and per Adam Schefter, the Dolphins do want to pay him, but they’re not sure what his fair market value is.

The market for star quarterbacks has risen like a hot air balloon over the last couple of years, especially with Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars, whom most would agree isn’t as good a player as Tagovailoa, recently getting a five-year, $275 million extension.

Tagovailoa threw for 29 touchdowns and an NFL-high 4,624 yards while completing 69.3 percent of his pass attempts last season, and that production was a huge reason why Miami finished second in points and first in passing yards and total yards.

His exploits have helped wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who was already an elite player when he was traded to Miami two years ago, raise his production to an even higher level since.

Meanwhile, many of the Dolphins’ offseason signings have been tilted toward the defensive side of the football, including veteran safety Jordan Poyer and linebacker Shaquil Barrett, both of whom have at least one Pro Bowl nod to their names.
