The New York Knicks made the first big move of the NBA offseason.

Trading for Mikal Bridges reunited him with three of his best friends and former teammates.

The Knicks will aim to get further into the postseason next year, and Stephen A. Smith is loving every bit of it.

During Wednesday’s edition of First Take, the renowned pundit went as far as to say that the only team that’s definitely above the Knicks is the reigning NBA champions, the Boston Celtics.

Smith raved about Bridges’ defensive skills and ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc, not to mention his chemistry with Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo, and Josh Hart.

He also campaigned for the Knicks to keep OG Anunoby, stating that he belongs in New York.

Truth be told, given the current picture in the Eastern Conference, the Knicks could and should be considered the second-best team there, behind only the Celtics.

However, things change when you take a look at the West, which is expected to be a bloodbath for years to come.

Landing another elite defender who can also get some buckets was crucial for Tom Thibodeau’s team, and it clearly gives them a better chance to get over the hump once and for all.

Then again, we’ve seen teams dominate on paper and crumble when it’s actually time to perform.

So, as excited as Knicks fans should be right now, perhaps we should put the brakes on the Knicks until we get to see them on the floor.
