Skip Bayless Reacts To Kawhi Leonard Withdrawing From Team USA

Skip Bayless often says inflammatory things to get attention, but he had a reasonable take regarding some breaking news.

Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard withdrew from Team USA as it prepares for the 2024 Summer Olympics and was replaced by Boston Celtics guard Derrick White, and Bayless had a lot to say about the situation.

A quote in a tweet from “Undisputed” was sensationalized, as Bayless noted how co-host Keyshawn Johnson was the one who said, “The Clippers can’t stand in the way of patriotism.”

Bayless took the other side, saying, “I got it, but they are paying him $50 million, but more important, they just put all their eggs and all their basketballs in his basket.”

Bayless added that it makes sense if the Clippers weighed in on their player, given the fact that Leonard just had another knee injury and it’s not wise for him to play strenuous games for Team USA this summer.

Bayless also noted how much more important it is for Leonard to stay healthy now that the Clippers have lost Paul George to the Philadelphia 76ers, and as unfortunate as it may be, it doesn’t make sense for Leonard to play in the Olympics just a couple of months after missing NBA playoff games due to his injury.

White has stepped in to fill in for Leonard, and he’ll be the third Celtics player on the U.S. team, joining Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday from the 2024 NBA champions.

It’s a shame Leonard had to drop out, but it looks to be the right decision for his health.
