Skip Bayless Questions Spurs For Trading Key Veteran To Celtics

The Boston Celtics already had the most difficult thing to find for any team, which was two star players.

It was more than clear that Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum were the guys to build around, and it was all about putting the right pieces around them.

With that in mind, Danny Ainge first and Brad Stevens later left no stone unturned to make the moves they needed to make to put this roster together.

Notably, one of the most impactful moves was trading for Derrick White.

That’s why NBA analyst Skip Bayless took to Twitter to question the San Antonio Spurs for giving him up.

I cannot believe the San Antonio Spurs gave up Derrick White.

However, the Spurs wanted and needed to get younger, so it made perfect sense for them to give up on the former Colorado player.

The Celtics sent Romeo Langford, Josh Richardson, a 2022 1st round draft pick — which was used to get Blake Wesley — and a 2028 1st round draft pick in return for White.

It paid off almost instantly.

White has been a big-shot maker since he arrived in Boston, and his backcourt defense has been nothing short of spectacular.

Pairing him with Jrue Holiday in the backcourt also proved to be great for Joe Mazzulla’s team.

White does all the things that don’t always show up in the stat sheet but help win basketball games.

Hopefully, the Spurs will make the most of that 2028 first-rounder so they don’t feel so bad about this trade.
