After five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, Paul George is now a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.

He agreed to join them just days ago on a four-year, $212 million contract, and the nine-time All-Star forward should make the 76ers a legitimate championship contender and a worthy challenger to the NBA champion Boston Celtics.

George admitted that before he joined Philly, the Golden State Warriors tried to trade for him, and he said the interest was very real because the Warriors felt he would’ve been a perfect fit with them.

Paul George says that the Warriors wanted to trade for him cause they thought he’d be the perfect fit next to Curry, Draymond, Kuminga, Podziemski, Looney and Wiggins.

So… what exactly was that trade package the Warriors were offering? lol

George was traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Clippers in 2019 in order to secure the free-agent signing of Kawhi Leonard, and at the time, it was thought the Clippers had just assembled the NBA’s next superpower.

They were projected to become arguably the best defensive team in league history, and year after year, many national pundits picked them to win the world championship.

But after five years after George’s partnership with Leonard, the Clippers had just one Western Conference Finals appearance to show for it.

Philly could become the superpower the Clippers never became, as they have George, former league MVP and two-time scoring champion Joel Embiid and an electrifying young star point guard in Tyrese Maxey.

They also made some solid smaller moves this summer, such as signing veteran guard Eric Gordon and small forward Caleb Martin.

The issue for the Sixers is the fact that both George and Embiid have been injury-prone over the years, but if healthy, the team should have a real shot at winning it all.

Meanwhile, the Warriors, after missing the playoffs this past season, lost Klay Thompson in free agency and could be even weaker this coming season after missing out on their opportunity to add George.
