Every now and then, a young player takes the NBA by storm, and Anthony Edwards is currently that guy.

The former No. 1 pick has quickly become a favorite not only among the fans but also among his peers.

He plays with a swagger and an old-school attitude and demeanor, and his determination to become as good on the defensive end of the floor as he is as a scorer has elevated his status to superstar already.

That’s why, following their loss in Game 1 vs. Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Nikola Jokic couldn’t help but tip his hat to the rising star (via Michael Scotto).

“Of course, he’s a special player. I have a huge respect for him. He can do everything on the floor. You need to enjoy and respect your opponent with just how good and how talented he is,” Jokic said.

Per Jokic, you have to give credit where it’s due, and Edwards’ ability to do everything on both ends of the floor is something special and worth praising.

Edwards wasn’t much of a defensive force when he first entered the league, and some questioned his work ethic and feel for the game.

Fast forward to today, and he’s become a legitimate MVP candidate in just his fourth season in the league, leading one of the best teams to a top-three seed.

The Timberwolves have now stolen homecourt advantage from the defending NBA champions, and they have yet to lose their first game of the postseason, and most of that has had to do with Edwards’ stellar play.
