After a successful final season with the Dallas Mavericks a few years ago, up-and-coming point guard Jalen Brunson decided to bet on himself and sign with the New York Knicks, which seemed like a gamble that might not pay off for the player or the team.

Two games into the second-round playoff series with the Indiana Pacers, Brunson looks like a bona fide superstar and could go down as one of the greatest Knicks players of all time, as he’s been lighting up the scoreboard on a nightly basis during the postseason after being an NBA MVP candidate during the regular season.

It seems the more Brunson is doubted, the more he excels and takes his game to another level while in New York, making him a fan favorite at Madison Square Garden and arguably one of the best point guards in the game today.

Nick Wright of FOX Sports believes that Brunson has played so well during the playoffs so far for the Knicks that he’s undoubtedly the MVP of the postseason up to this point, via “First Things First.”

“Jalen Brunson has been the MVP of these playoffs,” Wright said.

After helping the Knicks win Game 2 and take a commanding 2-0 lead in their second-round series with the Pacers, it seems inevitable that Brunson and company will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals to face what will likely be the top-seeded Boston Celtics.

Brunson will truly be put to the test against an elite squad on both ends of the court in the next series, but he might be up for the task if he continues to play at a high level like this.
