In just a matter of weeks, the NBA will hold its draft and introduce fans to dozens of new players who could lead the league into the future.

One of those players is Bronny James, the son of basketball icon LeBron James.

Even after a lackluster freshman season at USC, there remains a lot of interest in Bronny for multiple reasons.

According to Shams Charania, via NBACentral, the Los Angeles Lakers are still interested in drafting Bronny.

“They do have interest in bringing Bronny in as a draft pick,” Charania confirmed.

In many ways, this isn’t shocking at all.

For the last few years, LeBron has mentioned that he would love to play with his son on the big stage of the NBA.

As luck would have it, Bronny is set to enter the league right as LeBron and the Lakers are attempting to work out a contract extension.

Even though most reports say that LeBron already wishes to remain with the Lakers, signing his son would definitely add another reason to stick around in LA.

Beyond that, Bronny does hold promise, even though his year with USC wasn’t as great as some people expected.

He had a shortened season because of a very serious health issue last summer and never really delivered as many hoped.

Although his output on the court wasn’t that strong, many think he has a lot of defensive skills and could come into his own while playing in the league.

His father happens to be one of the most famous basketball players of all time but Bronny could be valuable to the Lakers beyond his connection to his dad.
