It is fair to say that so far, Victor Wembanyama has lived up to the immense hype that has surrounded him.

He came into the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs expected to move mountains, and so far, he has shown that he has a gigantic amount of potential.

Plenty now feel he could evolve into the best player in basketball within three to five years, but Lonzo Ball of the Chicago Bulls took it a step further.

Ball said Wembanyama could become not only the best defensive player ever, but the best player ever, period, per NBACentral.

“[Victor Wembanyama] might be the best defensive player we’ve ever seen… He has a chance to be the best player ever, potentially. I'll say that right now.”

The 7-foot-4 French phenom averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and a league-high 3.6 blocks a game this season, and as the season wore on, he seemed to raise his offensive production.

What may be most impressive about him is the fact that he said he wants to win a championship, something most rookies never talk about, and the fact that he may have the “clutch gene.”

The Spurs were a terrible team this year, but they’re reportedly being aggressive in looking to pair Wembanyama with another star, preferably a star guard, right away.

They will have the No. 4 and No. 8 picks, which will give them plenty of options as far as how to give the rookie some support as soon as next season.

Predicting how great he will end up being once his NBA career is over is perhaps premature right now, but it does seem like the sky is the limit for him.
