The Golden State Warriors and Klay  Thompson have been one of the most successful partnerships in recent NBA history.

He’s played a pivotal role in four NBA championships and six trips to the NBA Finals, and once it’s all said and done, he should have his jersey hanging high in the rafters and a statue outside of CHASE Center.

Unfortunately, that may not translate to him retiring with the team that found and developed him.

According to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Thompson’s chances of re-signing with the Warriors are ‘tenuous at best’ (via Evan Sidery).

The latest Klay Thompson update via @wojespn indicates he’s likely to leave the Warriors:

– There’s been little communication between Golden State and Thompson throughout this process, which includes no actual offer to him.

– Thompson could be on the move via sign-and-trade,…

Woj revealed that the Warriors and Thompson have barely been in contact, up to the point where the team hasn’t made him an actual offer.

Moreover, he believes a sign-and-trade is still a possibility, as it would allow the Warriors to recoup an asset for his services.

One would think that the Warriors front office would do right by one of the best players in franchise history.

Nonetheless, new GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. has no ties to Thompson or the championship core, as he inherited this team from Bob Myers.

Thompson’s defense has regressed significantly over the past couple of years, but he’s still one of the best shooters this game has ever seen, and multiple teams are expected to show an interest in his services.

He might only stay in the Bay area if he agreed to take a big pay cut, and while money has never seemed to be an issue with him, the word around the league is that he feels disrespected by the Warriors.
