Mike Williams Gets Honest About Opportunity To Play With Aaron Rodgers

The New York Jets, on paper at least, look like a contending team.

They have big-time players at a lot of different positions, and one of those positions is the wide receiver spot.

Garrett Wilson is going to grab headlines because he is a great player and a true No. 1 wide receiver.

But, the addition of big-play threat Mike Williams was a big move for the offense too.

The former 1,000-yard wide receiver signed a one-year deal earlier this offseason and now gets an opportunity to play with legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“I’m excited just seeing the way that he throws the ball and putting these guys in the right position…seeing what the defense is in and putting everybody in the right position to be successful,” Williams recently said of Rodgers to Jets reporter Caroline Hendershot.

#Jets WR Mike Williams told @cghendy that it doesn’t matter what plays are being called because Aaron Rodgers is switching it at the line of scrimmage, ‘he’s seeing what the defense is in & putting everybody in the right position to be successful.’

Well that’s a relief 😅🤣

Aaron Rodgers has played with some great wide receivers over the years.

Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams, Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, and Randall Cobb were all Pro-Bowlers and stars with him in Green Bay.

Garrett Wilson is growing into a great one too.

But, none of them had the size that Williams is bringing to the table.

The 29-year-old and former national champion at Clemson stands at 6-4 and weighs close to 220 pounds.

Despite battling injuries in his seven years with the Chargers and despite not being the No. 1 wide receiver, he still managed to put up multiple 1,000-yard seasons.

In 2019, he put up over 1,000 yards on just 49 receptions.

He led the league in yards-per-reception that year (20.4).

If Rodgers remains healthy, look out for this QB-WR duo in 2024.
