Magic Johnson Calls Out Mavericks After Game 2 Loss

It’s been a tale of two stories with the Dallas Mavericks’ offense this season.

They could either be a free-flowing offense with everybody moving around and getting their touches, or an iso-heavy and stagnant offense with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic playing heroball.

Needless to say, the results have also been quite different depending on which version of their offense they show on the court.

That’s why NBA legend Magic Johnson called the team out for the offenses they’re running in the NBA Finals, stating that the rest of the team needs to step up and get their touches instead of just watching the stars go one-on-one.

The Mavs are doing too much standing around and watching Luka and Kyrie go one on one. If they want to win, they need more ball movement and to start pushing the pace to get more easy buckets!

Magic also claimed the Mavericks needed to push the pace and start getting some easy buckets.

Granted, Joe Mazzulla and Celtics players have done outstanding work of forcing the Mavericks to live and die by their two stars.

They’ve been deadly in passing lanes, are denying all entry passes, and are pretty much funneling Irving and Doncic to force them into difficult shots.

Simply put, the Celtics are daring the Mavs duo to win on their own, and they’ve taken the bait.

Doncic’s numbers, while impressive, haven’t translated into success, and he needs to do a better job of getting everybody involved and into a rhythm.

Irving, on the other hand, hasn’t been scoring efficiently, and he’s not setting the table for his teammates either.

It’s win-or-go-home time in Dallas, and the role players need to step up and give their stars a helping hand.
