Over the past few weeks, the NFL world has been waiting for what seems to be the inevitable lucrative long-term contract extension for Miami Dolphins superstar quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Although Tagovailoa continues to improve year after year and is undoubtedly one of the league’s elite quarterbacks, he and the Dolphins have yet to agree on a contract extension, which would likely make him the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL.

In the meantime, the Jacksonville Jaguars got to work on a contract extension for their superstar quarterback Trevor Lawrence, with the team signing him to a massive deal worth $200 million guaranteed and $55 million annually, which ties what Joe Burrow gets paid with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Although the Jaguars felt like Lawrence was more than deserving of this contract extension, former NFL player and FOX Sports analyst LeSean McCoy doesn’t understand Jacksonville’s logic in paying Lawrence this much, via “Speak.”

“We’re in a world where Trevor Lawrence is making the same amount of money yearly as Joe Burrow,” McCoy said. “We’re in a world where Trevor makes more than Patrick Mahomes yearly!”

.@CutOnDime25: Trevor Lawrence got paid too much and too soon.

Although this seems like a hefty price to pay for Lawrence, he’s likely the best quarterback to play for the Jaguars in the team’s history up to this point, and the team’s brass wants to make sure he’s taken care of, especially with a potentially bright future ahead.

It makes sense from the franchise’s standpoint, as the team was not exactly a free-agent draw and had not had much success before Lawrence’s arrival.
