The Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James have reached an agreement on a new deal.

While his continuity with the team was never in question, he’s now made it official by signing a two-year deal worth $104 million.

He could opt out of the second year of his contract and become a free agent again, thus allowing him to get even more money if he chose to do so.

Now, as shown by Yahoo Sports on Twitter, he’s slated to make a whopping $583 million during his playing career, which is clearly the highest amount in NBA history to date.

Needless to say, it shouldn’t take long before a younger player makes that number look like pocket change, as Jayson Tatum’s contract extension would give him north of $300 million.

James has also been quite a successful businessman.

He’s known how to get plenty of value from his investments and business endeavors, and he became a billionaire years ago.

Of course, you have to take agent fees and taxes from his salary, but even if you did so, he’d still have a staggering amount of money from his playing days alone.

Professional athletes are getting more and more money by the day, and while some might argue that no one should get that much money to play sports, those who create wealth are deserving of it.

The sports industry is a never-ending money-making machine, and as such, it only makes sense that those who get people in the seats should also get a piece of the cake.
