Luka Doncic has received a lot of heat after the Dallas Mavericks’ loss in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

One of the most noted reasons for this criticism is due to his fouling out, unable to be with his teammates in the final minutes of the game.

Fans and analysts have been tough on Doncic, indicating that he should have held it together in this game, staying strong for his teammates.

However, in a recent conversation with Taylor Rooks, Jalen Brunson talked about how difficult these situations are, defending Doncic’s actions.

Brunson said the criticism of Doncic is “unfair,” also adding, “It’s a tough situation to be in. It’s emotional.”

Brunson was a teammate of Doncic’s in Dallas, but he’s also an established NBA player at this point in his career.

He knows what Doncic is going through in these tough moments, and feels for him amid the criticism.

Doncic and the Mavericks now have their backs against the wall, needing to win four straight games to win the NBA Finals.

Unfortunately for them, history is not on their side, as no team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in the playoffs.

Assuming the Mavericks fall in the series, it will be interesting to see if Doncic receives additional criticism in the offseason.

After all, he is said to be one of the best players in the league, and putting up another suboptimal performance could be detrimental to his standing among his peers.

Brunson still has his back, but there haven’t been many other comments from other peers to this point.
