Insider Says It Will Take A ‘Hail Mary’ For Clippers To Keep Paul George

A few years ago, the Los Angeles Clippers sent shockwaves throughout the NBA as they signed superstar forward Kawhi Leonard after he led the Toronto Raptors to their first title in franchise history and then immediately traded for fellow superstar Paul George in a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Clippers showed they were tired of living in the shadow of the Los Angeles Lakers in the City of Angels and were serious about contending for the foreseeable future with two superstars leading the way.

Unfortunately for the franchise, the superstar duo didn’t work out as planned, with Leonard and George dealing with injuries over the course of their stint with the Clippers that hindered the team’s chances of competing in the Western Conference.

After seemingly a failed experiment with the dynamic duo in Los Angeles, it appears that George has played his last game for the franchise, as Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report claims it would take a “hail mary” from the Clippers brass to bring him back via NBA Central.

It’d take a ‘hail mary’ for the Clippers to keep Paul George 😳, per @ChrisBHaynes

With the Philadelphia 76ers going all out this summer to land George in free agency, where he’ll be able to be a third star alongside one-time NBA MVP Joel Embiid and up-and-comer Tyrese Maxey, it seems like a foregone conclusion he’ll sign with them once NBA free agency opens on Sunday.

With the Clippers more than likely losing George to the 76ers, it’ll be interesting to see what move they make to fill the void, as they still have to make a decision on James Harden.
