The Los Angeles Lakers have a big decision to make about their future right now.

Firing Darvin Ham sent them right back to square one, and they will now have their fourth head coach in seven years with LeBron James on the team.

Needless to say, whoever they hire could have a significant impact on LeBron’s decision to extend his stay in Southern California — or not.

On top of that, it’s not unusual to see teams keeping their best players involved in their head coaching search, obviously including LeBron James.

However, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, that hasn’t been the case thus far.

In his latest appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back,” Charania pointed out that James hasn’t been involved in the Lakers’ coaching search, adding that James wants the organization to make this decision on their own.

Also, he reportedly hasn’t had any talks with them about hiring JJ Redick.

Redick has been a strong candidate, at least on social media, over the past week or so.

He has obvious ties to James, as they recently started a podcast together, and he admitted that he wants to be an NBA coach.

James has a player option for next season, so he could either opt-out to sign a contract extension, or just leave as a free agent.

Still, most analysts believe he’s going to run it back in Southern California, even though he could be tempted to move somewhere else if another team takes Bronny James in the NBA Draft.
