The New York Giants absolutely needed to draft a wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft this year.

With the losses of veterans Sterling Shepard, Parris Campbell and Richie James over the last few seasons, they needed some real help.

They got that in the form of All-American LSU receiver Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick.

The details of Nabers’ rookie contract have just been revealed.

According to insider Ari Meirov, his contract will be a fully guaranteed deal worth $29.2 million over four years.

The deal also includes a fifth-year option, and his signing bonus will go for $18 million.

The hope is that he will be worth all of that and then some.

The Giants haven’t had a great receiver since Odell Beckham Jr. and even Victor Cruz.

Nabers will look to bring what he did in college to the Big Apple for head coach Brian Daboll.

In both 2022 and 2023, he recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and led the FBS in receiving yards in 2023 with 1,569.

He will not only be tasked with being a great receiver, but with that, he will also need to help whoever is at the quarterback position.

Whether it is Drew Lock or Daniel Jones starting, Nabers, along with Darius Slayton, Allen Robinson, and Wan’Dale Robinson, must help provide a consistent pass-catching option.

This team has struggled to do that ever since the retirement of Eli Manning.

Look for Nabers to have a very large role in the passing game early on in his career.
