The NBA draft is quickly approaching and teams are making and adjusting their plans.

Just like in previous years, there may be a flurry of activity right before the draft, which will be held over two nights starting on June 26.

According to Sam Amico, via NBACentral, the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers could be shaking things up in the days ahead.

Amico is reporting that the Heat and Lakers are interested in trading into the top five of this year’s draft, although it’s not entirely clear what they will do with their choices.

Amico said that league sources tell him the Heat and Lakers might make a “strong play” for a top-five pick.

That may be true but no one is sure which player they will pursue.

Additionally, they might not be angling for a player and could instead use a top-five pick in a package deal with current stars already in the NBA.

The Lakers have been attached to a number of draft prospects, including Zach Edey and Bronny James.

Are they trying to climb higher so they can secure one of them?

This draft class has received mixed reviews from scouts and analysts and some have claimed that it’s the worst in years.

However, many franchises will remain engaged.

Some will hunt for incoming players who could help them, while others will cobble together draft picks and ship them off for packages that help them win here and now.

The Atlanta Hawks have the top pick in the draft but their plans aren’t known and they are contemplating a few big moves.

From the Heat to the Lakers, Hawks, and beyond, many teams are getting excited about this month’s draft.
