Gilbert Arenas made a name for himself in the NBA for two things: His scoring prowess and his careless attitude.

The former Washington Wizards star has had a plethora of questionable takes over the past couple of months.

Even his own co-hosts have called him out on his podcast.

Notably, Stephen Curry has been one of his preferred victims, and he was back at it again recently.

In the latest edition of his podcast, he claimed that no one defends Stephen Curry in the way they guarded Allen Iverson, stating that Curry had never been tripled or quadruple-teamed (via NBA Central).

Gilbert Arenas says Steph Curry never received the amount of attention from opposing defenses that Allen Iverson did, and says Klay Thompson would’ve averaged 30 points per game playing next to Allen Iverson

He claimed that Klay Thompson would’ve averaged 30 points per game if he had played next to Iverson because no one would’ve even bothered guarding him.

With Iverson being faster than Curry, Arenas claimed that no one was stupid enough to switch on him, adding that it took all five guys to stop him.

Curry is sometimes triple-teamed as soon as he crosses half-court, sometimes from the very first possession.

The Toronto Raptors put together an entire defensive strategy focused solely on him in the NBA Finals.

No one has been guarded like Steph, and while that doesn’t necessarily mean he was a better player than Iverson, Arenas is just wrong here.

Also, Iverson is a legend and one of the single greatest players this game has ever seen, and ring culture isn’t always right.

But many players would rather have Steph’s career over Iverson’s.
