Former Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl has never been shy about making his feelings known on a number of topics.

His old squad trails the Minnesota Timberwolves 2-0 in the Western Conference semifinals, and it is in lots of trouble as the series shifts to the Upper Midwest for the next two games.

But Karl sounds confident that the Nuggets will get themselves on the board on Friday, as he took to Twitter to predict they will Game 3 thanks to newly minted regular-season MVP Nikola Jokic.

The Nuggets will beat the Wolves in a very close 4th quarter game tonight, led by the 3x MVP 💪🏽

Denver, the defending NBA champions, have plenty of problems, and they start with the Timberwolves’ defense, which was ranked first in defensive rating during the regular season.

The Timberwolves are pressuring Denver on the perimeter, not allowing them to easily run their half-court actions, and they have made Jokic look uncomfortable.

Jokic scored just 16 points in Game 2, and he has shot just 42.1 percent in the first two games of this series.

As a team, the Nuggets were held to a paltry 80 points in Game 2 after averaging 114.9 points a game in the regular season and 108.6 points a game in the first round of the playoffs.

Minnesota was able to perform that type of defensive masterclass in Game 2 even though Rudy Gobert, who was recently named the Defensive Player of the Year, sat out in order to be present for the birth of his child.

One shouldn’t put it past Denver to win the next two games of this series and make things very competitive, but right now, they’re in a world of trouble.
