George Karl Calls Out Bucks For Trading Jrue Holiday

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and NBA teams often find that out the hard way.

On paper, stacking up stars should always give you a better chance to compete.

In reality, having players who are the right fit together tends to be more important.

That’s why legendary coach George Karl once claimed that swapping Damian Lillard for Jrue Holiday was actually a downgrade for the Milwaukee Bucks.

With that in mind, and with Holiday and the Boston Celtics just one win away from winning a title, Karl took to Twitter to call them out again.

People said I was crazy when I said swapping Damian for Jrue was a downgrade. 😆

Of course, no one denies that Damian Lillard is a superstar and one of the best scoring point guards in the game, but he may not have been what the Bucks needed at the time.

Holiday had strong chemistry with Giannis Antetokounmpo and their teammates, and he anchored their defense with his pesky and suffocating perimeter defense.

The Bucks rushed to pull the plug on both Holiday and coach Mike Budenholzer, and it showed.

There’s still a chance that Lillard and Antetokounmpo will become the dominant duo we all thought they could be, and they could even win an NBA championship together.

Even so, this move could still come back to haunt them for years to come, as Holiday was a seamless fit in Boston, and this team should be very good for a long time.

Jrue Holiday is an underrated player, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a star in this game.
