Former Teammate Defends Aaron Rodgers Over Recent Criticism

Aaron Rodgers has undoubtedly been one of the NFL’s very best quarterbacks over the last 10-15 years, but in the past few seasons, he also developed a reputation as something of a diva.

His last couple of years with the Green Bay Packers were filled with off-the-field drama, and so far this offseason, he missed some of the New York Jets’ mandatory minicamp, which led to more criticism.

It looks like the Jets are willing to absorb some Rodgers-related drama to field what they feel is a Super Bowl-caliber team, and James Jones, one of his former teammates, defended the future Hall of Famer.

He said on Fox Sports 1’s “Speak” that Rodgers has done everything right since coming to the Big Apple last offseason.

Rodgers’ absence from minicamp has been unexcused, yet some in the media said it isn’t a big deal.

On the other hand, since he barely played last season due to the torn Achilles he suffered in Week 1, he needs to be out on the field with his teammates as much as possible to develop chemistry and cohesion.

That is even more of a need when one considers that New York has a new left tackle in Tyron Smith, an eight-time Pro Bowler, and a significant new wide receiver threat in Mike Williams.

It seems like anything is possible for the Jets this season — anything from missing the playoffs to competing for the Vince Lombardi Trophy, and it also appears that type of unpredictability is par for the course when it comes to Rodgers.
