Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, for better or worse, is outspoken both on and off the court.

Green has set himself up after his playing days are over with a media career that includes both his own podcast and guest analyst roles on NBA on TNT.

As one of the smartest players of his generation, Green’s got great insights about today’s game, especially on the defensive end.

While his brash attitude can rub people the wrong way, it doesn’t take away from the fact that Green’s got a unique perspective on all things related to the NBA.

For example, Green made an appearance on Shaquille O’Neal’s podcast where the two discussed things like NBA fines for players.

Green argued that the fines in the league prevent players from staying wealthy, which seemed to rub fans the wrong way, including Greg Wissinger of The Kings Herald.

“Draymond’s career earnings are $177 million. His career fines are 1. Around $3 million or less (hard to find exact numbers) 2. All self-inflicted wounds. If you can’t make $174 million work for life, even after taxes, that’s a you problem,” he tweeted.

Fans had plenty of replies on the matter.

I have an idea and it might be crazy, but what if he tried not getting fined so much?

Yea i will always choose the 174 million and being fined 3. I would not complain

Yea I mean its been a struggle for me to find my footing after being paid 160 million over a 15 year career but I manage….

The amount of money he makes in a day would be life changing for most

In the clip, Green argues that getting hit with massive fines after working hard to make millions is unfair and sets players up to lose wealth much more quickly.

It’s easy to take the clip out of context given that Green’s made a lot of money over the course of his career, though it sounded more like he was talking about the league as a whole and not himself individually.
