Colts’ Late-Round Pick Thought He Was Getting A Prank Draft Call

The 2024 NFL Draft is officially in the books and the Indianapolis Colts should be considered one of the major winners after their impressive haul.

The Colts stood pat at No. 15 and allowed the board to fall to them and it paid off as they got arguably the best pash rusher in the draft in Laiatu Latu.

Indianapolis then maneuvered around the board a bit and somehow were able to get Adonai Mitchell at No. 52 overall, a massive get considering some projected him to go late in the first round.

General manager Chris Ballard continued to make solid pick after pick, addressing needs on both sides of the football on the roster.

With their final pick of the draft, the Colts took a flier on defensive tackle Jonah Laulu at No. 234.

Laulu was in such disbelief of the call that he thought he was getting pranked, via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

“#Colts DT Jonah Laulu thought he was getting pranked when GM Chris Ballard called to draft him in the 7th round,” he tweeted.

Ballard is seen calling Laulu, who proceeds to ask the general manager if it’s a prank call or if it’s real.

Ballard gets a good laugh out of the comment and assures Laulu that it’s not a prank and that the Colts were indeed drafting him.

Laulu seemed likely to go undrafted at that point of the day and even admitted that he was already in contact with other teams about signing as an undrafted free agent.

Overall, it was a fun moment for Laulu who now gets a chance to live out his NFL dream.
