San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey comes from some good stock, as he isn’t the only NFL player in his family.

His dad Ed was a standout wide receiver back in the 1990s, and he won two Super Bowl championships with the Denver Broncos, who were coached by Mike Shanahan, the father of current 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.

In fact, the elder McCaffrey and the elder Shanahan also got a ring on the 1994 Niners when the latter was their offensive coordinator.

The former wished his son a happy 28th birthday by posting a photo of the two on Twitter.

Happy Birthday Christian! Love ya! Wow, time really flies and so do you… Keep on Runnin’! #HappyBirthday

The younger McCaffrey is considered by many to be the best running back in the NFL today, and last season, he turned in a special campaign.

He led the league with 1,459 rushing yards while scoring 14 rushing touchdowns, and he also hauled in 67 receptions for 564 yards and seven touchdowns, earning him the Offensive Player of the Year award.

When the younger McCaffrey was traded to San Francisco midway through the 2022 season, it immensely raised the ceiling of their offense and transformed them from a very good team that mostly won with defense to a great one that is dominant on both sides of the football.

Of course, they have failed to win it all, as they narrowly fell in February’s Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs, the team that also defeated them there during the 2019 season.

Until the Niners complete their “Quest for Six,” nothing will seem complete for them.
