On Thursday night, the Los Angeles Lakers entered the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, fully intent on selecting Bronny James from the University of Southern California with the No. 55 overall pick.

The Lakers were so intent on taking the USC product that a report surfaced that Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, the 19-year-old’s agent, told teams not to draft him or he’d be playing in Australia next season, which means the stage was set for LeBron James to get his wish of playing with his eldest son on the NBA level.

Although the Lakers’ move and the team’s recent hiring of first-timer JJ Redick as their new head coach have been criticized and scrutinized by fans and the media, some have praised this decision and believe it should be celebrated, like Chris Broussard of FOX Sports via First Things First.

“The Bronny-LeBron story is fantastic and should absolutely be celebrated,” Broussard said.

Despite Broussard going with the heart-felt optimistic approach about what the Lakers have done with Bronny James, the only thing that will smooth this over with Lakers fans and some members of the media is success on the basketball court, which might be hard to come by considering the situation.

Only time will tell what the future holds for this team and whether Bronny James will prove to be the real deal while playing for the Lakers.
