The NBA has become a global league now more than ever.

Guys like Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, and Pau Gasol paved the way for this new wave of European players, and we’re seeing more and more of them take the league by storm nowadays.

Of course, the league has had a plethora of international talent in it’s history.

Guys like Hakeem Olajuwon, Toni Kukoc, Peja Stojakovic, and Dikembe Mutombo are just a handful of the names that always stand out.

Nonetheless, Nowitzki was in a tier of his own, but his reign was short-lived.

According to NBA legend Charles Barkley, Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic has already moved past him.

"Dirk, up until Joker, he was the greatest foreign player ever."

Talking to Shannon Sharpe on ClubShayShay, Barkley argued that Jokic would go down as the greatest foreign player of all time, adding that they might even win the NBA championship again this season.

That’s the ultimate compliment, especially coming from a Hall of Famer and one of the greatest power forwards to ever do it.

Luka Doncic, Victor Wembanyama, Joel Embiid, and Giannis Antetokounmpo have also put the NBA on notice about international hoopers, and that list is only going to keep growing every year, so it won’t be an easy task for Jokic to live up to that prophecy.

Still, if he keeps this pace up, it would be hard to look back on his career and not agree with Barkley, even if Nowitzki was also a legend of the game.
