To say that Kyrie Irving isn’t a popular man among Boston Celtics fans could be a bit of an understatement.

They’ve literally sold out shirts reading how much they dislike him, and they make sure to remind him of their despise every single time he’s back in the TD Garden.

Nonetheless, the former NBA champion was far from impressed in his return to Boston in Game 1.

Following his team’s loss, he teased the fans a little further by stating that he thought it would be much louder there.

With that in mind, the Celtics tried to use that to fuel a little fire, showing his pic and the quote on the jumbotron to get the crowd all fired up (via Bleacher Report).

The crowd erupted into ‘Kyrie Sucks’ chants multiple times in Game 2, and Jrue Holiday got the best of him again.

Following the game, Irving let the fans know that they would be back for Game 5.

He has a complicated history with this organization, and it’s fair to say that he’s earned most of the tough love he’s gotten through his actions and words over the years.

And for as long as the fans keep it classy and don’t cross any line that should never be crossed, it’s all fair game and a part of being an NBA star.
