Cam Newton Issues A Challenge To Owner David Tepper

Former Carolina Panther great Cam Newton had an interesting take on Panthers owner David Tepper Friday.

This came after the billionaire was seen on security cameras walking into a Charlotte restaurant after he saw a sign that said, “LET THE COACH AND GM PICK.”

Here is what Newton had to say:

“If I responded to every person who said something in regards to me…That’s how you lose a fanbase,” the former MVP said on his “4th & 1” show.

This is not the first time that Tepper has been under scrutiny for decisions that he has made, whether on or off the field.

His most famous decision(s) involved hiring former head coach Frank Reich just to fire him months into his first season in 2023, which was also No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young’s rookie year.

He has already fired three coaches since taking over as owner back in 2018.

First-year head coach Dave Canales is Tepper’s fourth head coach in seven seasons.

This latest restaurant development that took place before the NFL Draft is the latest interesting move that Tepper has made.

The only way he can win the trust back of fans is with patience and growth over a period of time.

If he can stay out of the public eye for a little while other than speaking with the media, as Newton hopes, perhaps the team won’t need to deal with any more of those distractions.

But the fact that Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is tearing up the league right now certainly doesn’t help the public’s opinion of Tepper.
