Bengals Announce Decision On Tee Higgins’ Contract

The 2023 NFL season was a forgettable one for the Cincinnati Bengals, to say the least.

Injury became a persistent problem, and the team never got on track as the legitimate Super Bowl title contender it was expected to be.

The main reason for the team being unable to be a force to be reckoned with in the AFC was the season-ending wrist injury for superstar quarterback Joe Burrow, as he went down with a calf strain in training camp and then this significant injury 10 games into the 2023 campaign.

Despite the costly loss of arguably one of the best quarterbacks in the league today, the Bengals still finished the season with a winning record of 9-8.

However, the team was competing in arguably the toughest division in the league, where a 9-8 resulted in a last-place finish in the AFC North division.

As if finishing the season without a playoff appearance and a concerning injury to Burrow wasn’t bad enough, the future was uncertain for star wide receiver Tee Higgins, who had a contract situation to deal with during the offseason.

Ultimately, the Bengals chose to place a franchise tag on Higgins, which led to speculation that a trade was on the horizon, but that never came to fruition, and the team has now re-signed him to a one-year deal, according to the Bengals’ Twitter account.

Although Higgins is not Ja’Marr Chase in terms of impact and productivity on the field at the wide receiver position, he is still considered a valuable asset and a player the team didn’t want to see leave.

In 12 games last season, Higgins caught 42 passes for 656 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
