There is no NFL pressure cooker quite like the Dallas Cowboys, and even three straight trips to the playoffs and two division crowns cannot ease the strain.

Being unceremoniously ushered out of the playoffs for three consecutive seasons may be enough for most franchises, but it spells doom under the Jerry Jones regime.

Cowboys fans are accustomed to winning a dozen games, as they have done for three straight seasons, but even that accomplishment may be in jeopardy.

Analyst Jason McIntyre told Colin Cowherd on The Herd that Dallas will not be a 12-win team in 2024, which would absolutely cloud the future for head coach Mike McCarthy.

Speaking of McCarthy, McIntyre noted that the embattled head coach is reportedly past the honeymoon phase in Texas.

The NFL rumor mill is awash with speculation that he heads into his fifth season in Dallas with a chip on his shoulder and may be at his wit’s end with Jones.

So, not only does America’s Team have a growing issue as quarterback Dak Prescott waits for a lucrative contract extension, but it’s head coach may have one foot out of the door.

Free agency was also unusually quiet for Dallas, and five starters from last year departed for other teams.

The storied franchise enters the 29th season of it’s futile search for another Super Bowl championship with more questions than answers, and there is growing concern that the team’s window of opportunity is closing.

If that is indeed the case, there will be a day of reckoning in Texas.
