The Philadelphia 76ers made a huge move on Monday morning, signing Paul George to a deal and improving their chances of going far next season.

According to the trio of Marc Bertrand, Cerrone Battle, and Tim McKone on NBC Sports Boston, this means that the 76ers have technically “won” the offseason so far, although no one is convinced this will allow them to beat the Boston Celtics.

"So far, [the 76ers] won the offseason"

They all agreed that George is a supremely talented basketball player when he is healthy.

However, he has a bad history of getting hurt at the worst times and that means he could be a detriment to Philadelphia when the postseason rolls around.

Joel Embiid’s injury history is also of concern for the team and there is a chance that both Embiid and George are injured and out of games at the same time.

That would undoubtedly destroy the Sixers’ chances of claiming a title.

The 76ers just paid a lot of money for George and they want to get a return on their investment.

They view him as the kind of player they have needed for so long and think the combination of him, Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey might be the most threatening big three in the East.

But if George’s history is any indication, they could face some of the same problems the Los Angeles Clippers did.

That team consistently had big hopes and expectations and never came close to delivering on them.

Will that happen in Philadelphia too?

There is no doubt that this is a massive move by the 76ers but Philadelphia fans aren’t entirely convinced it’s going to pan out as they want.
