Analyst Names NBA East Team As Draft Winners

There are many NBA experts who believe the revival of New York Knicks basketball is being led by the best general manager in the sport, Leon Rose.

Take this week’s draft for example.

The Knicks went on the clock with the No. 24, No. 25 and No. 38 selections.

When the dust finally settled, the team hauled in 18-year-old French prospect Pacome Dadiet, 2023 Big East Player of the Year Tyler Kolek of Marquette, Kansas star Kevin McCullar, German 7-footer Ariel Hukporti, and three future second-round draft selections.

NBA expert Tommy Beer noted via The Carton Show that “Leon Rose is playing chess while all you guys are playing checkers.”

New York’s return to prominence has been spectacular over the past two years as the team rose from the ashes of only 37 wins in 2021-22 to reach the Eastern Conference semifinals after both of the last two seasons.

While it is unlikely that any of these selections will play 20 minutes a game in the coming season, there are prospects galore, and Rose managed to parlay three choices into four players AND three future picks.

Rose is a draft night dealer, as he has already completed at least two transactions with other clubs during the annual event in four of his first five years as GM.

All told, Rose and the Knicks finalized six trades from the draft’s opening on Wednesday until the curtain fell on the festivities late Thursday.

Success is far from guaranteed, but the Knicks are steadily improving, and this is in large part due to their uber-aggressive leader.
