The Dallas Cowboys have been in an awkward staring contest with quarterback Dak Prescott this offseason and despite QBs around the league getting huge paydays left and right, Prescott will seemingly head into the 2024-25 season in a contract year.

It’s going to be a make-or-break year for Dak and the franchise, but one analyst thinks the Cowboys should simply pay up and make him the highest-paid QB in the league.

ESPN’s Chris Carlin went on First Take today and said that the Cowboys should make Dak the new highest-paid QB, saying “What is my best opportunity to win? I can win with Dak Prescott.”

Carlin pointed out Dak’s 2-5 postseason record but added context by saying that Trevor Lawrence, Jared Goff, Justin Herbert, and Lamar Jackson all make more than him and have worse QB ratings in the playoffs.

Prescott is coming off one of the best seasons of his career but once again laid an egg in the playoffs in a crushing loss to the Green Bay Packers after winning the NFC East.

It’s a valid point given the fact that other less accomplished quarterbacks are getting outrageous contracts, and if the Cowboys decide they don’t want to pay Prescott, some other team will be happy to do so.

No one has doubted Dak’s regular season output, but he and head coach Mike McCarthy are both clearly on the hot seat and fans are growing restless.

His numbers prove he deserves a giant contract, but it’s unclear if he’ll actually get one unless he can finally get this team to go on a deep playoff run.
