Before becoming an NFL legend as the superstar quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers dreamt of playing for his hometown San Francisco 49ers, which is ironic because the team had the No. 1 overall pick the year the future Hall of Famer was drafted.

Ultimately, the 49ers chose to go with Alex Smith as their new face of the franchise, as San Francisco bypassed Rodgers altogether, who then fell all the way down to No. 25 in the first round with the Packers hoping to make him Brett Favre’s successor in Green Bay.

Even though Rodgers would’ve loved to have played for the 49ers, things worked out pretty well for him during his time with the Packers, where he became a household name in the NFL and won a Super Bowl title, along with racking up several individual accolades as one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

Now, Rodgers is heading into his second season with the New York Jets after missing nearly all of the 2023 campaign due to a season-ending Achilles injury.

Ironically enough, Rodgers will go head-to-head against the 49ers in the Bay Area to get the 2024 NFL season underway, with superstar tight end George Kittle dropping the subtle hint on Instagram before the schedule was officially released (via Paul Andrew Esden Jr. on Twitter).

That’s awesome 🤣@AaronRodgers12 told @eallenjets that he found out the #Jets were opening up against the #49ers in Week 1 because of @gkittle46’s Instagram post that said, ‘see you soon.’

Although Rodgers almost certainly still has some animosity toward the 49ers for not picking him in 2005, there’s no question he’s put it in the past, but he will likely want to put on a show in Week 1 at Levi’s Stadium.

Not only will Rodgers want to get the best of the 49ers to start the season, but he’ll also want to show he’s healthy and still in top form, which could be a challenge against an elite team like San Francisco.
