Following a disappointing first-round exit in the NBA playoffs, with Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets getting the best of the Los Angeles Lakers for a second straight year, the stored franchise headed into the NBA offseason with plans to make some drastic changes.

Along with almost immediately parting ways with Darvin Ham and recently making JJ Redick their new head coach, the Lakers brass is expected to be active in NBA free agency and potentially in the trade market in order to improve their roster for next season and beyond.

The Lakers aren’t the only team that could make some big moves in the City of Angels this summer; the Los Angeles Clippers are also potentially ready to shake things up.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Lakers and Clippers will be potential suitors for veteran point guard Chris Paul if the Golden State Warriors part ways with him this summer via NBA Central.

“I keep hearing that Paul, if he actually makes it to free agency at some point, he would draw interest from the Clippers as well as the Lakers. Paul’s desire to play as close to his L.A.-based family as possible is well-known, but I’m told interest in bringing him to the Lakers might not be unanimous within the organization despite Paul’s well-chronicled friendship with LeBron James,” Stein said.

Obviously, Paul has a history with the Clippers as he’s arguably the best player to ever play for the team and could be looking to finish his career where he played his best basketball.

As for the Lakers, the team will be looking for some depth at the point guard position and pair LeBron James with his close friend as they both enter the twilight of their careers in the NBA.
